Andrzej Surmacz

President & Founder

Casino Game Maker, Inc. President and Founder Andrzej Surmacz has served in the gaming, online, and video lottery industry verticals for over 25 years, both at the domestic and international levels. Before founding Casino Game Maker in 2014, Andrzej led such industry stalwarts as IGT and GTECH in numerous executive roles, ranging from Vice President of Video Lottery Systems for IGT to leading the business development for GTECH in Europe and Asia.

These years of experience in the growing technology fronts of the gaming industry, along with the knowledge of the growing domestic and international markets, allowed Andrzej to see the tremendous opportunity for next generation game development. Thus, Casino Game Maker, Inc. was formed.

Andrzej is fluent in English, Swedish, and Polish.

Darin Gifford

Chief Technology Officer

Casino Game Maker, Inc.’s Chief Technology Officer, Darin Gifford, graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He has worked in the gaming industry for the past twenty-five years, specializing in software design, development, and integration.

He has worked for Universal Distributing of Nevada (Aruze), Sega Gaming, Sigma Game, and Advanced Gaming Solutions. He was instrumental in their platform development on both core and game functions. During the last fifteen years, Mr. Gifford has created several coin-op/amusement companies, and brought to market several amusement games. He designed the electronics for them, including a USB input/output device, game, and application interface software. He worked closely with several manufacturers, including Mattel, Jersey Jack Pinball, Elaut USA, and Coast to Coast Entertainment.

Darin spent two years in Japan as a missionary, and speaks Japanese.

Brian Dalley

Director of Engineering

Casino Game Maker, Inc.’s Director of Engineering, Brian Dalley, has over ten years of engineering experience, and has been working in the gaming industry since 2006. As an Integrated Engineer, he has a vast skill set that allows him to work on a wide range of engineering projects. He is as adept at mechanical or electrical design as he is at software design and development. His combination of skills has allowed him to gain experience working with every aspect of a gaming device.

Brian has worked on platform development, created new electronic solutions, designed mechanical prototypes and enclosures, and is an expert in system communication using the SAS protocol.

Dre Freden

Lead Game Designer

Dre likes to make games. He graduated from SUU with a degree in illustration, but that is only one of his passions. He worked on several independent games both during and after college. He likes writing stories, inventing world settings, drawing places/characters, dinosaurs, and Thai food. When he’s not doing art, he’s either sleeping or dead.

His favorite things are mountains, hammocks, and combining those two things. He likes exploring new places and meeting new people. Perhaps his greatest passion is learning new things. Did I mention he likes Thai food?

Andrew Mitchell

Creative Studio Manager, Lead Artist

Andrew Mitchell is an illustrator from Southern Utah University, where he was awarded the honor of Outstanding Graduating Student in Studio Arts. He studied and became proficient in the modern art tools Adobe Suite, Blender, and Maya; as well as more traditional realism and fantasy techniques in oil, watercolor, and acrylic painting. He brings his understanding of art and storytelling to the games under production at CGM. Andrew lived for two years in Guatemala, and speaks Spanish.

Li Zhi

Senior Software Engineer

Zhi Li received his B.S. degree in Computer Science and Technology from Shandong University in China, and his M.S. degree in Modeling, Simulation, and Visualization Engineering from Old Dominion University. During 2013-2015, he was a research assistant in the MSVE Department at Old Dominion University, and joined a project from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory. His research interests include computer graphics, game design, transportation simulation, and high performance computing.

Amy Gifford

Senior Software Engineer

Amy Gifford, a Software Programmer at Casino Game Maker, Inc., has been programming since high school. She attends Southern Utah University, and is a senior who will be graduating with a double Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Pure Mathematics. Amy has programmed in Java, C++, Python, and ActionScript3. She was chosen as the top female student in the College of Science and Engineering for the 2014-2015 school year. Amy is the President of the Math Club at SUU, and her mathematics research paper was published in the Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal.

Jared Ross

Software Engineer

Jared Ross, a Software Programmer Intern at Casino Game Maker, Inc., is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, with an emphasis in Mathematics, at Southern Utah University. He is one of the founding members of SUU's Cyber Security Club, and competed with the club team in various events hosted around the nation. He has a strong passion for technology, from robotics and AI, to web development and simulations. At Casino Game Maker, his role varies between the back-end system development and hardware drivers to game development. He is adept at programming in C/C++, Java, Actionscript3, Javascript, CSS, and HTML.

Logan Jones

Software Developer

Logan Jones, a Software Engineer at Casino Game Maker, Inc., recently discovered his love of and natural skill at computer programming. He made the decision to follow his heart, and left a completed B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry to further pursue computer programming. He is now pursuing a master of Computer Science when he's not at work, making games or tools that assist the studio in making assets and games better and faster. Besides the three aforementioned fields, he loves learning about math, music, electronic engineering, psychology, game theory, physics, creative writing, and cosmology (not to be confused with cosmetology). He hopes to use his extensive knowledge of biological systems and computer science to pursue a career in Artificial Intelligence. He can program in Python, Java, C#, and ActionScript3. He is excited to be a part of this excellent team!

Brian Heritage

Game Artist

Brian is an illustrator and designer. He earned a B.F.A. in Studio Arts from Southern Utah University. He enjoys working in digital and traditional media, and makes it a priority to draw everyday. He loves to create as part of a team. He likes telling stories, martial arts, and spending as much time as possible making cool stuff.

Trent Price

IT/Technical Writing Intern

IT/Technical Writing Intern Trent Price is an IT Technician and Technical Writer at Casino Game Maker, Inc. Trent's interest in computer systems began with his amazement at the stunning visual games, movies, and drawings these computer systems could create. He wondered what made them work, and so he started building computers at a young age to replicate such creations. He later turned that into his business of repairing and maintaining computers. He was later hired at Southern Utah Technology and Design, where he became head of the Software/Hardware Repair Department, which contracted to businesses and doctor's offices in the area. Trent is attending SUU for a degree in Information Systems. Trent can’t get enough Star Wars and Utah Jazz.
